Himalayan Nature and Adventure Foundation

Himalayan Nature & Adventure Foundation (HNAF) is a voluntary non-government Organization, registered under Society Registration Act (Reg No. S/83926), Government of West Bengal and affiliated to Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi.

HNAF realized the responsibility to conserve nature and to appreciate the majestic beauty of Himalayas and to infuse ecological awareness among the people of this region. The ever-growing need to address the environmental issues led to the formation of Himalayan Nature and Adventure Foundation (HNAF) in 1990. The organization was established in association with Nima Tashi, ex-deputy director, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling.

Since its inception in 1990 HNAF has emerged as the leading non-governmental organization. The organization has proved itself to be one of the leading organizations of this region working towards the promotion of adventure sports activities, environmental movements, wildlife Conservation and Nature Education for children and youth from all over the country. For the last 31 years HNAF has successfully organized camps annually for the challenged children and youth. As a part of social commitment, HNAF takes part in every rescue operation and relief works in this region during the natural calamities. HNAF has also been working together with several State and Central Government organizations in various projects in different sectors.

Dedicated to promoting eco-friendly tourism by promoting healthy outdoor activities among the people of India and involving people in projects for the conservation of mountains, environment, and wildlife.
Our vision is to build a future where people live in harmony with nature. To meet this, we must conserve biodiversity and support all life in nature. In addition, sustainable use of natural resources needs to be ensured.
  • To inculcate a spirit of self-sufficiency and independency among the weaker sections of society physically challenged persons and children through experiential learning.
  • To spread awareness of environmental conservation, wildlife protection, and conservation among the forest fringe dwellers and the general people at large.
  • To assist various departments of the Government in the implementation of their developmental programs including capacity building of their staff and the local people of the project areas.
  • To organize and help girls and women reach platforms where they can develop their leadership qualities that facilitate making decisions at personal and social levels.
  • To promote gender equality.
